About the Opportunity

Cal LeGrow has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Payroll Specialist, based in St. John's, NL (with options for hybrid work after orientation).

In this position, you will report to and support the Chief Financial Officer/VP Human Resources in all payroll duties and managing statements from a range of service providers.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and submitting biweekly payroll for salaried and commission-based employees
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements by meeting deadlines
  • Reconciling commission statements from various sources and calculating due payments to staff
  • Collaborating with insurance companies and MGAs to understand commission structures
  • Assisting Financial Advisors directly as needed
  • Preparing and submitting year-end tax forms to the government on time
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information

More About You

To qualify for this role, you must have relevant post-secondary education and a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in payroll administration, ideally with ADP payroll system experience.

The following skills and experience will be strong attributes:

  • Proficiency in business principles, including accounting, CRA, and tax filing processes
  • Strong expertise in using Excel
  • Eagerness to learn and accept critical feedback for ongoing improvement
  • Comprehensive understanding of commission statements in relation to overall compensation
  • Independent working capability with a proactive approach
  • Demonstrated abilities in analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Accountability and dependability in all professional endeavors
